Tiny Bathroom with Big Impact - Living Big in Small Spaces

Our client came to us wanting to remodel their kitchen and convert their powder room to a full bathroom for their daughter. I seriously did not think it would be possible, but decided to give it a go. Design challenges are my jam! The client purchased an home in Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz as their Surf Retreat. As COVID hit, they ended up spending way more time at their Surf Retreat than their main home in San Francisco. They quickly became aware of how badly their daughter needed her own full bath. With a reverse floor plan, the kitchen, main living area, powder room and daughter’s bedroom are on the second floor. She was having to go downstairs, through the living room to shower. And we all know how teenage girls need their bathroom time and privacy. It was very inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Searching for small space solutions, we found this amazing round shower with doors that slide open and take up no space. It enabled us to make a full size bathroom is a very small space. We also added a wall mounted toilet for extra space and made a custom vanity to fit the space exactly. We included a custom niche and recessed medicine cabinet for extra storage. To amplify the feeling of space, we used a monochromatic color scheme that gave the space a zen, relaxing feel. To add the next level of WOW, we really wanted a custom tiled shower pan (instead of the standard white shower pan). Luckily, the contractor was totally on board. Their tile guy absolutely rocked the shower pan. And the seamless tile drain!

We couldn’t be more pleased with how this tiny space impacted their lives. Bigger is NOT always better.
